Parc Naturel Régional de la Narbonnaise en Méditerranée

This is an area that has been specially preserved for you to discover.

It is a result of a lot of hard work involving the 31 communities of the area, the farmers and vignerons, the artisans, the shopkeepers, associations or simply the residents of the area. Everybody involved has one thing in common – a passion for the sustainable development of the area. It is their desire for a quality environment and the love of the area that gives such richness to this natural park.

Across the ages the inhabitants of the area have left their prestigious fingerprints (the Via Domitia, the cathedral of Narbonne , the Abbey of Fontfroide…..). Sometimes the mark is more modest but none the less part of the richness of the area (the shepherds or vigneron’s houses, the parcels of cultivated land surrounded by small walls of dry stone).

Don’t miss the natural features either such as the ‘étangs’ and the coastal zone, the escarpments of the Corbière hills with their divers rich flora and fauna. With more than 200 kilometres of paths visitors can make the most of these glorious assets either on foot or by bicycle.

Special maps or “Topo Guides” are available in the park and details of guided tours can be found in the “Guide des découvertes nature et patrimoine”.
